About
AERS
"As long as the sun shines and the waters flow, this land will be here to give life to men and animals. We cannot sell the lives of men and animals; therefore we cannot sell this land. It was put here for us by the Great Spirit and we cannot sell it because it does not belong to us."
-- Crowfoot, Chief of the Blackfeet circa 1885
Aside from the innovative solutions AERS has applied to this space, what sets AERS apart from other emergency response and community development organizations is our level of respect, understanding, and appreciation for the cultures, traditions, and spiritual practices that First Nations peoples have held so dear throughout centuries of attempted assimilation. These cultural, traditional, and spiritual practices are most commonly referred to as the “First Nations Ways of Knowing.”
The First Nations Ways of Knowing is a vast historical, social, spiritual, and environmental knowledge of which the majority of non-First Nations Canadians have no knowledge or understanding. AERS has built our services, products, and programs with this information in mind - it is the foundation from which we have built our company.

AERS
Difference
What makes Aboriginal Emergency Response Services unique is that no one in Canada is doing what AERS is doing. No one.
Whereas other corporate-type organizations would jump immediately into the community planning phase, AERS wants to understand the community first. What drives the community’s ambitions? What are their individual and collective goals for the future of their community?
But most importantly, AERS wants to know who the community is at its core - what are their values and traditions? Scraping the community to its bare bones, what are the things the community values most?
From there, AERS, together with the community, can begin formulating a vision for the future of the community with their values at the forefront of every decision. Before we even lift the pen, we want to ensure that every member of the community is heard.
By establishing this baseline, communities can rest assured knowing that, at the end of it all, the community’s ‘essence’ will remain intact with each new process or procedure following the framework established through the traditions and values of the community and those living therein.
Innovative & Out-of-the-Box Solutions
However, the one driving factor that sets AERS apart from all other like-kind companies is our consistency in utilizing out-of-box-thinking to create solutions to issues that have been plaguing First Nations communities for centuries.
AERS’ ability to take a historical problem, flip it on its head, and create a solution is what makes AERS the monster that it has become.
